Series: National Geographic Kids Everything Publisher: National Geographic Children's Books (February 14, 2012) ISBN-13: 978-1426308406 Summary: As I look over this colorful book I am amazed at all of the information that is included in this book. When I think of ancient Egypt I think of Pharaohs, pyramids, mummies, and hieroglyphs. This book includes all of this information and more. What I enjoyed most is that this book is a reference material book. I enjoyed that I could flip to a chapter and get specific information. This book should be in your home collection because it includes information for children ages 3 and older. If you have a very young child the best way to use this book is to show your child pictures and then describe the information to them. If you have an older child you would then be able to read various passages through the book.
Activities: Paper Mache Canopic Jars: Have your child pick a God from page 16 and make a paper mache Canioic Jar. Cuneiform Tablet: Use play dough and have your child write their name in hieroglyphic code. Using the chart on page 47. Paper Doll: Color the paper dolls and have your child switch between the costumes. Mummification: So what is Egypt without a little mummification. I am not crafty enough to come up with this idea. So if you would please click the link you can find the instructions.
